Orange sea lichen

Caloplaca marina (Wedd.) zahlbr.

LichensFungi and LichensOligochaetes and Hirudinae (Clitellates)
Espèce généralement de couleur orange ou jaune orangé, formant une plaque rase rugueuse plus ou moins ronde, adhérente aux substrats durs. Formée de minuscules lobules. Les apothécies ont la forme d'une coupe garnie intérieurement.

Possible confusions

Caloplaca thallincola : le thalle est lobé, développé en cercle assez régulier avec des couleurs très vives. Parmélie des murailles Xanthoria parietina : La couleur plus jaune et la résistance à l'arrachement plus importante permet de les différencier

Biotope / Habitat

Espèce encroutée sur du substrat dur

Distribution

De la Mer du Nord à la Manche, sur l'océan Atlantique Nord aussi bien à l' Est qu'à l'Ouest, et sur toute la Méditerranée.
