Cup-like Sponge

Axinella infundibuliformis (Linnaeus, 1759)

Forme typique d'entonnoir, attachée au substrat par un court pédoncule. Couleur beige ou jaune pâle, taille 10 à 15 cm. Le bord de l'entonnoir est épais et arrondi. On distingue de petites oscules sur toute la surface, sur laquelle le sédiment adhère facilement.

Possible confusions

Phakellia ventilabrum peut avoir la forme d'un entonnoir mais avec un bord fin et fragile.

Biotope / Habitat

Fonds rocheux du circalittoral jusqu'à 600 m de profondeur. Souvent sur des surfaces horizontales.

Distribution

Mer du Nord, Manche, Atlantique est jusqu'en Bretagne.
