Algue charnue et cartilagineuse, à surface luisante, de couleur orange-rouge à jaune vif, pouvant atteindre 10 cm de long.
Ses axes, aplatis de 5 mm de large, partent d'un crampon en forme de disque. Ils se couchent souvent sur le substrat et se ramifient de façon régulière par divisions successives, très ouvertes, en 2 « branches » et se terminent en arrondi.
