Éponge encroûtante assez épaisse formant souvent des petits monticules qui se terminent par de gros oscules. De couleur beige à jaune pâle elle est assez polymorphe et peut aussi former des branches. Jusqu'à 20 cm. Sa texture montre la fibre de spongine en réseau lâche de manière caractéristique.
