Plante à fleurs marine formant des herbiers denses, fixées au sédiment par des rhizomes. Les feuilles vertes en lanières de 5 à 11 nervures mesurent de 4 à 12 mm de large et jusqu'à 1,20 m de long. Inflorescences discrètes en forme d'épi, présentes de mai à août.
