Les autres plumes du genre Aglaophenia sont plus fines, moins rigides, moins colorées, non pointues au bout et portent des corbules au moment de la reproduction.

Les colonies forment des touffes serrées qui peuvent faire jusqu'à 1 m de large. Les individus, d'une dizaine de cm, sont en forme de plumes assez rigides, pointues au bout (comme sur une coiffe d'indien !). La couleur varie de beige à jaune d'or.
