C'est une ascidie solitaire qui peut mesurer jusqu'à 15 cm de long, son corps est mou et gélatineux et de couleur jaune. Elle présente 2 siphons et peut se rétracter en les refermant. On peut observer une marge plus jaune au bord des siphons pourvus de soies (fermeture). Chaque siphon est bordé par une marge jaune et est orné d'un point jaune ou rougeâtre.
