Exaiptasia diaphana (Rapp, 1829)

Anémone de petite taille, de 4 à 5 cm de haut, portant une cinquantaine de tentacules : - Disque oral de 2 à 3 cm de diamètre environ, - Coloration courante jaune verdâtre sans marbrure, - Tentacules effilés, en "zigzag", translucides à leur base. Peut former d'importantes colonies près de la surface.

Possible confusions

Aiptasie verte, Aiptasia mutabilis : de plus grande taille (10 cm), solitaire et avec des tentacules plus épais, plus translucides et finement ciselés de blanc, Anémone verte, Anemonia viridis : de plus grande taille (20 cm) avec des tentacules verts non translucides, Aiptasie de Couch, Aiptasia couchii : de plus grande taille (12 cm), présentant une colonne lisse évasée en forme de trompette, Anémone gemme, Aulactinia verrucosa : colonne rose à nombreuses bandes de verrues très marquées, tentacules translucides rayés de larges bandes grises ou vertes. Un motif de flamme orne le disque oral.

Biotope / Habitat

Substrat dur (petits fonds rocheux) avec des eaux chargées (ports et lagunes), depuis la surface jusqu'à 10 m de profondeur.

Méditerranée, Atlantique oriental et mer Rouge.
