Biotope / Habitat
- Crevette fouisseuse vivant dans des terriers construits dans des substrats sableux ou graveleux. Le terrier est en forme de U présentant deux ouvertures.
- Animal visible de la surface jusqu'à 50 mètres de profondeur.

- Crustacé (non décapode)
- Corps allongé jusqu'à 10 cm de couleur rosé, jaune orangé ou brune
- Les appendices thoraciques (deuxième paire) sont modifiés en pattes ravisseuses, ce qui fait ressembler les animaux de cet ordre à des mantes religieuses. L'extrémité de la patte porte cinq griffes.
- On peut observer trois paires de pattes locomotrices de couleur claire
- La partie arrière (Telson) forme de grosses échancrures
- Chaque oeil pédonculé est double
