Tête : bec long et très mince, melon allongé Corps : élancé, cap gris à gris bleuté sur la partie dorsale bien délimitée jusqu'à la Caudale, ventre plus clair Taille : maximum environ 2,20 m pour 75 à 80 kg Dorsale : en forme de faucille ou triangulaire Grégaire, 20 à 100 individus

Possible confusions

Avec le Dauphin tacheté, uniformément tacheté, le rostre est moins fin et moins long.

Eaux tropicales et subtropicales de tous les océans. Indo-Pacifique, Caraïbes

Species status description

UICN (CITES, Convention de Washington) : Annexe 2 PRÉCAUTION D'OBSERVATION - Les cétacés sont des animaux sensibles aux dérangements ; leur observation y compris sous-marine ne doit donc avoir lieu que si l'animal vient spontanément vers l'observateur, afin de ne pas risquer de troubler son comportement naturel. Leur perturbation intentionnelle est explicitement interdite par la loi française.
