Eponge marron-vert foncé avec des oscules plus clairs et bien apparents, de forme indistincte et pouvant atteindre 15 cm de large. Cette éponge perfore le calcaire. Elle vit en symbiose avec des algues aussi on ne la trouve que sur les zones peu profondes et jamais à l'ombre. Parfois elle a complètement recouvert la roche et elle est très visible avec des protubérances en forme de petits plateaux de 1 cm de diamètre.
