Kidney sponge

Chondrosia reniformis Nardo, 1847

Éponge encroûtante gris clair, parfois bleuté, à marbrures plus ou moins foncées, en lobes arrondis de forme indistincte de 10 à 40 cm de diamètre, de surface lisse et avec de gros oscules. Dans les grottes elle est parfaitement blanche. Peut se reproduire par voie asexuée en une "coulure" facile à repérer.

Éponge cerveau mais en lobes plus petits

Substrat dur, plafond des grottes, zones aussi bien éclairées que sombres jusqu'à 40 m de profondeur
