Herring Gull

Larus argentatus Pontoppidan, 1763

Remarkable
Tête : bec jaune avec un point rouge en partie inférieure. Corps : tête, poitrine, ventre et queue blancs, ailes et dos gris. L'extrémité des ailes est noire. Pattes : couleur rose grisâtre. Taille : maximum 70 cm, envergure 145 cm. Poids 1.3 kg

Possible confusions

Goéland brun, Larus fuscus : plus petit, bec plus mince, pattes jaune orangé, Goéland cendré, Larus canus : bec et pattes jaunes sans tache rouge, Goéland leucophée, Larus michahellis : dos gris clair, pattes jaunes, Goéland marin, Larus marinus : dos couleur noir.

Biotope / Habitat

Littoral, parfois très éloigné des côtes, peu éloigné des décharges d'ordures.

Distribution

Cosmopolite , Europe et Asie , Atlantique Nord Ouest et Est.
