Threadfin butterflyfish

Poisson au corps blanc avec des chevrons sur les flancs. Arrière du corps, nageoire dorsale, nageoires anale et caudale jaune. Les individus hors Mer Rouge ont une ocelle noire à la base postérieure de la nageoire dorsale. Présence d'un filament à l'arrière de la nageoire dorsale.

Possible confusions

D'autres espèces de poissons-papillon ont un patron de coloration lui ressemble, mais seul le poisson-papillon à selle noire Chaetodon ephippium possède une expansion à l'arrière de la nageoire dorsale et il a un patron de coloration différent.

Biotope / Habitat

Jusqu'à 40 m de profondeur sur les platiers, les lagons et les pentes externes.

De la Mer Rouge à la Polynésie Française.
