Couleur ; juvénile noir avec des cercles concentriques bleus-blancs, adulte tricolore jaune / bleu / noir
Aspect : corps arrondi, comprimé latéralement, épine oculaire caractéristique, masque noir bordé de bleu au niveau des yeux, petite bouche de couleur bleu clair formant un museau arrondi, joues bleu clair, rayures en diagonale (bleu/noir), nageoire dorsale jaune, nageoire anal noire avec le bord bleu, nageoire caudale jaune
Hermaphrodite protogyne (femelle puis mâle)
