Murène au corps serpentiforme brun/jaunâtre avec quelques petites taches sombres. Tache noire autour de l'ouverture branchiale. L'oeil est orange. Elle peut atteindre 1,20 m.
Les nageoires dorsale, caudale et anale n'en forment qu'une, alors que les nageoires pectorales et pelviennes sont absentes.
