Colonie de taille moyenne (10 à 20 cm) ayant la forme caractéristique des alcyons digités. Sa couleur est rouge plus ou moins foncé à beige clair, les polypes (à 8 tentacules pennées) sont toujours blancs. Ils peuvent se rétracter entièrement.
