Etoile cuir, Henricia oculata : plus lisse au toucher ; ses épines sont recouvertes de peau et de mucus. Dans la zone d'habitat commune (Bretagne Nord), l'identification nécessite un examen en laboratoire.

Etoile de taille moyenne, de 10 à 20 cm :
- 5 à 6 bras allongés, de section circulaire, éclaircis à leur extrémité,
- Couleur variable : rose-rouge au violet, jaune-orangé, parfois tachetée,
- Texture rigide et coriace, rugueuse au toucher.
Présente sur les éponges (prédation).
