Algue de petite taille qui forme de petites touffes plates ou très légérement ramifiées: - Couleur brun jaunâtre à brun foncé, - Jeune, elle se présente sous la forme d'un disque incurvé : des filaments partent depuis le bord, - Plus âgée, elle prend une consistance cartilagineuse et recouvre le substrat.

Biotope / Habitat

Espèce présente sur tout substrat rocheux, à faible profondeur.

Distribution

Méditérranée et Atlantique N-O, y compris les Canaries, Madère et les Acores.
