Favorinus à bulbes

Favorinus branchialis (Rathke, 1806)

Petit opisthobranche de 12 à 14mm de long, à 6 ou 7 rangées de cérates blancs; on y voit ses glandes digestives par transparence. Ses rhinophores sont marrons à leur base et blancs au niveau de leur pointe, une boursouflure marque le changement de couleur. Il a une grosse tache blanche triangulaire entre ses rhinophores qui se termine au niveau de son pied.

Possible confusions

Favorinus à trois anneaux Favorinus Blianus : 3 boursouflures au niveau de des rhinophores. Dicata Dicata odhneri : pointe des rhinophores et des tentacules buccaux jaune vif.

Biotope / Habitat

On pourra l'observer depuis la surface jusqu'à 30m de profondeur. On le trouvera sur les pontes d'autres mollusques opisthobranches car il s'en nourrit.

Distribution

Atlantique Est, Mer du Nord, Méditerranée, des îles Shetland aux Açores et aux îles du Cap vert.
