Jelly tube-worm

Myxicola infundibulum (Montagu, 1808)

Ver solitaire segmenté qui vit dans un tube gélatineux et épais se trouvant dans le sédiment : - Panache dentelé en corolle composé de tentacules réunis par une membrane, - Couleur du panache branchial de couleur variable (blanc, rose, marron-violet), - Extrémité effilée de couleur brune, - Diamètre du panache de 4 à 6 cm, - Longueur du tube de 10 à 20 cm.

Possible confusions

Mégalomma, Acromegalomma vesiculosum : ver solitaire au panache branchial de couleur brune et fortement incurvé. Myxicole à plusieurs couleurs, Myxicola polychroma : ver solitaire au panache branchial de couleur claire sans extremité effilée de couleur brune.

Biotope / Habitat

A partir de quelques mètres et jusqu'à 500 m de profondeur, sur les fonds sablo-vaseux, y compris dans milieux à salinité variable (estuaire).
