Requin pouvant atteindre 5 m de long, voir plus.
Son corps est massif, il a un museau assez court et large, avec une bouche inférieur.
il a 6 paires de fentes branchiales, un pédoncule caudal très court et des yeux verts incandescents.
Dos brun clair à gris foncé, avec une ligne claire au-dessus de chaque flanc jusqu'à la queue.
il a le ventre blanc.
