Ensis magnus Schumacher, 1817

Ses deux valves sont fragiles, minces, longues (environ 14 cm) et étroites (moins de 3 cm). Elles présentent une légère courbure d'où son nom. La couleur d'un blanc sale jaunâtre avec des petites taches brunes est due en partie au Périostracum (membrane externe recouvrant la coquille de nombreuses espèces de bivalves). L'intérieur est blanc nacré.

Il vit enfoui dans le sédiment, vase, sable plus ou moins profondément.
