Desmarest's Flattened Weed

PlantsAlgaePhaeophyceae (Brown algae)

Grande algue annuelle ramifiée (jusqu'à 2 m de hauteur) de couleur brun jaune, de texture cartilagineuse, fixée par un disque, au thalle en lames très aplaties portant des rameaux latéraux fins et aplatis. Les rameaux terminaux portent des poils colorés au printemps.

Biotope / Habitat

Roches, roches ensablées, habitats de laminaires clairsemées, du bas du médiolittoral à l'infralittoral.

Distribution

Atlantique nord-est, Manche, Méditerranée.

Species status description

Cette algue exsude de l'acide sulfurique lorsqu'elle est exposée à l'air.
