Grand requin de 4m à 4,50 m.
Requin très trapu et ventru, doté d'un museau long et pointu avec une bouche hérissée de dents protubérantes, extrêmement effilées.
Ses nageoires pelviennes et sa deuxième dorsale sont à peine plus courtes que la première dorsale.
Le lobe inférieur de la caudale est assez développé.
Robe gris sombre, rarement tachetée de brun-rouge sur les flancs.
Ventre blanc (sale).
