Agrion de petite taille (33 à 36 mm) caractérisée par son abdomen à dominante rouge : - Pattes et ptérostimas noirs, - Thorax noir à côté jaune et bande antéhumérale rouge ou jaune. Période de vol : de Mai à Août.

Possible confusions

Agrion délicat, Ceriagron tenellum : de taille plus petite (25 à 35 mm) ; ptérostigmas rougeâtres ou bruns jaunâtres; pattes rouges.

Eaux stagnantes riches en végétation.
