Big-plated sea star
Choriaster granulatus Lütken, 1869

Taille maximale de 30 cm. Le corps est massif. Les cinq bras sont courts, larges, ronds avec des extrémités bien arrondies. La surface du corps dans sa partie supérieure est couverte de petits tubercules donnant un aspect abrasif. Sur la face inférieure des petites épines bordent les gouttières ambulacraires.
Les couleurs varient du blanchâtre à l'orangée, les pointes des bras sont bien plus claires très souvent blanches, parfois tachetées.
