Petite étoile : - Taille de 10 à 20 cm, - Cinq bras cylindriques et ronds, étranglés à leurs bases, - Disque central de petite taille, - Coloration chamarée de teinte variable (beige, rose, rouille, brun).

Possible confusions

Etoile de mer d'Hemprich, Ophiodiaster hemprichi : bras plus longs, granules (petites structures arrondies ou coniques situées sur le tégument) dispersés.

Biotope / Habitat

Depuis la surface jusqu'à qq mètres, en milieu exposé et battu des récifs coralliens.

Distribution

Mer Rouge et océan Indien.
