Pseudofusus rostratus (Olivi, 1792)

AnimalsClearly visible spiral shell not covered by the mantle

Gastéropode de 3 à 6 cm de long, coquille fusiforme allongée à sculptures régulières, sillons spiraux élevés faisant saillie sur les cordons longitudinaux, cordons longitudinaux secondaires régulièrement espacés entre les cordons primaires, canal siphonal long, ouvert, à bords épais, bord interne du labre légèrement décollé et saillant. Coquille beige pâle à brun-roux sans bande colorée, manteau rouge orangé.

Biotope / Habitat

Sur fonds sédimentaires variés, subtidal de la surface jusqu'à 800m.

Distribution

Méditerranée, Atlantique proche jusqu'aux côtes cantabriques, iles Canaries, introduit en Manche (baie de Morlaix et de Saint-Brieuc).
