Gastéropode possédant une coquille de 12 à 20 mm de couleur brunâtre et de forme conique. Coquille spiralée avec 9-10 tours. Présence de tubercules clairs ou noirs. Formes élevées des cordons avec une alternance de taches blanches et foncées.

Possible confusions

Cerithe goumier Cerithium vulgatum : plus gros.

Biotope / Habitat

Zone intertidale variée, sable avec cymodocées et zostères entre 2 m et 20 m de profondeur, lagunes, piscines rocheuses.

Distribution

Mer rouge et mer Méditerranée orientale.
