Poisson-ange de 15 cm maximum, avec un corps entièrement jaune de forme ovoïde.
Présence d'une ligne bleue autour de l'oeil et sur l'ouïe.
Présence d'un liseret bleu aux extrémités des nageoires caudale, dorsale et anale.
Le juvénile présente une ocelle noire bordée de bleu sur le flanc.
