Cette murène possède une tête jaune verdâtre. Son corps est blanc crème. La mâchoire présente de nombreuses dents pointues. Présence de taches noires de forme irrégulière sur tout le corps. Coins de la bouche blancs. Taille maximale : 1 m. ATTENTION sa présence à Mayotte est encore douteuse, une photo serait bien venue

Biotope / Habitat

Cette murène habite, le plus souvent, des formations coralliennes isolées sur un fond sableux, de quelques mètres à 50 m.

Distribution

Océan Indien et océan Pacifique ouest. Réunion, Nouvelle Calédonie, Polynésie Sa présence à Mayotte est douteuse
