AnimalsSmooth shell covered by the mantle: porcelain, simnia, ova, etc.

Coquille allongée, fine, de couleur orange pâle, ouverte sur toute sa longueur, de 9 à 19 mm de long. Manteau transparent parcouru de stries foncées transversales régulières, parfois de lignes de points régulières, papilles branchées.

Possible confusions

Simnie à grande ouverture Simnia patula : plus grande, coquille plus large, lignes transversales du manteau irrégulières, extrémité postérieure plus arrondie, papilles sans branchements.

Biotope / Habitat

Exclusivement sur la gorgone verruqueuse Eunicella verrucosa, de 20 à 35 m de fond.

Distribution

Manche (côte sud de l'Angleterre de Portsmouth aux îles Scilly), Atlantique NE (Ouessant), Mer du Nord (Norvège).

Species status description

Espèce récemment décrite (2011) et rarement observée.
