Adultes Taille : maximum 40 cm Couleur : le dos est foncé gris à marron avec un carré beige clair au centre en selle. Le ventre est gris clair, blanchâtre. Corps : avec des barres sombres légèrement courbées au nombre de 10 à 14 Tête : masque sombre de l'oeil à l'opercule, bordé de deux lignes bleues Pédoncule caudal : gris clair marqué d'une tache sombre au centre Juvéniles Couleur : violette, Les nageoires dorsales et anales sont bordées de rouge orangé

Biotope / Habitat

Fonds rocheux et coralliens. Généralement vie en solitaire Profondeur 6 à 120 m
