Taille: adulte maximum 6cm
Corps : petit poisson de couleur jaune avec quatre traits fins bleus finement bordés de noir, qui barrent le corps. La première paire est constituée d'un trait de chaque côté de la nageoire pectorale et la suivante d'un trait de chaque côté de l'oeil.
Plus une ligne bleue finement bordée de noir le long de la dorsale.
Opercule : avec une petite tache noire
Protection : le corps est couvert d'un mucus au gout très amer
