Plante vivace : - Taille de 10 à 100 cm, - Grandes feuilles aériennes ovales à largement lancéolées, arrondies ou cordées à la base, - Feuilles immergées rubanées, - Fleurs blanches à trois pétales, à l'extrémités allongées, - Inflorescences très ramifiées. Floraison de Mai à Septembre.

Possible confusions

Plantain d'eau à feuilles lancéolées, Alisma lanceolatum : plus petite et avec des feuilles plus étroites.

Mares, étangs, ruisseaux, fossés.

Eurasie et Amérique du Nord (introduite).
