Clathrine cerveau

Borojevia cerebrum (Haeckel, 1872)

Eponge calcaire de couleur beige à rose et parfois blanchâtre, de forme cérébroïde marqué. Les oscules sont bien apparents et sa surface est parsemée de petits trous. Elle est souple et facilement sécable.

Possible confusions

La clathrine-dentelle Clathrina coriacea qui a le même biotope mais la forme cérébroïde de la clathrine cerveau est vraiment caractéristique.

Biotope / Habitat

Espèce sciaphile sur tout substrat ferme comme cordages ou roches jusqu'à 200 m de profondeur.
