Taille : maximum 20 mm
Coquille : en forme de casque pointu, ovoïde, conique. Paroi épaisse, comportant environ six verticilles ou spires de croissance hélicoïdale.
L'ouverture : grande dans le même axe que la coquille. Forme ovale, la partie la plus large se trouve au centre. Les bords sont épais, la lèvre externe est dentelée.
Couleur : très diverse, du brun clair au brun foncé, brillante, avec des taches.
