Le petit scalaire colimaçon mesure 15 mm maximum. Sa coquille est blanche, longue et effilée avec de nombreuses côtes longitudinales très fines. Il est omnivore mais il se nourrit surtout d'anémones et de tuniciers.

Possible confusions

On peut le confondre avec Epitonium pulchellum mais ce dernier a plus de côtes longitudinales.

Biotope / Habitat

On le trouvera dans la zone intertidale dans son aire de répartition au nord et entre 30 et 250m de profondeur au sud.

Distribution

Il est présent depuis la Norvège jusqu'en Méditerranée.
