Taille : jusqu'à 10 voir 20cm de haut (3 à 5cm de haut dans les endroits abrités), axes principaux de 3 à 15mm de long
Couleur : rouge brunâtre
Aspect : touffu (rameaux secondaires ressemblant à des poils), cartilagineux, axes cylindriques, ramifications dichotomiques.
Utilisée comme médicament anthelminthique (vermifuge) et laxatif
