Grand dauphin de 2 à 4 m de longueur (2,6 m en moyenne) : - Tête arrondie avec un museau court, - Nageoire dorsale formant un triangle au bord arrière concave, - Couleur du dos gris, plus foncé que ses flancs de couleur blanche avec de petites taches noires.

Possible confusions

Grand dauphin, Tursiops truncatus : présent dans tous les océans (sauf les eaux polaires).

Distribution

Océan Indien (Afrique de l'Est et mer Rouge) et Océan Pacifique.
