Ascidie sociale translucide de 1 à 2 cm de haut. On les trouve en colonies de quelques individus à plusieurs centaines reliés par un stolon. Chaque individu est muni d'un orifice buccal et d'un orifice cloacal parfaitement visibles à l'oeil nu.

Possible confusions

Diazone Diazona violacea : celle ci a un pied gélatineux et vit au-delà de 25 m.
