Scytosiphon lomentaria (Lyngbye) Link, 1833

PlantsAlgaePhaeophyceae (Brown algae)

Algue brune à longues frondes tubulaires de 20 à 40 cm de long et de quelques mm le large se développant à partir d'un disque basal. Les frondes présentent des constrictions plus ou moins espacées et sont effilées à la base et à l'extrémité. Leur consistance est membraneuse, la couleur brun clair à brun foncé.

Possible confusions

Avec l'algue brune Asperococcus fistulosus qui est plus large et porte des sporanges reproductifs proéminents.

Biotope / Habitat

Sur substrat rocheux et cuvettes permanentes de l'estran, infralittoral proche.

Distribution

Atlantique NE, du Portugal à la Scandinavie et à l'Islande, Manche, Mer du Nord, Baltique, Méditerranée, Mer Noire, Atlantique NW de la Nouvelle Angleterre à Terre-Neuve.
