Petite ascidie pédonculée de 15mm de haut vivant en groupe parfois dense. Tunique translucide couverte de ponctuations blanches. Nombreux tentacules buccaux blanchatres à l'entrée du siphon buccal.

Possible confusions

Peut être confonue avec les autres espèces de Pycnoclavella comme Pycnoclavella communis/ nana mais la présence de tentacules à l'entrée du siphon buccal permet de différencier P. atlantica
