Remarkable
Corps : ovale, haut et comprimé latéralement.
Couleur : corps argenté légèrement bleuté.
6 bandes noires relativement larges et verticales, la première sur la tête passe par l'oeil la dernière est située sur le pédoncule caudal
Tête : grosses lèvres, bouche protractile (capable d'être projetée vers l'avant)
Nageoires : les pelviennes situées au milieu de l'abdomen sont sombres, une seule nageoire dorsale
Taille : maximum 55 cm
Parfois en banc, assez souvent solitaire.
