Leathesia marina (Lyngbye) Decaisne, 1842

PlantsAlgaePhaeophyceae (Brown algae)

Algue globuleuse, brune à jaune, coriace, mesurant jusqu'à 5 cm, devenant irrégulière et parcourue de sillons avec l'âge. L'intérieur est gélatineux.

Possible confusions

Avec la voleuse d'huîtres Colpomenia peregrina de consistance proche du papier et dont l'intérieur n'est pas gélatineux.

Biotope / Habitat

Substrats rocheux de l'estran et de l'infralittoral proche, cuvettes permanentes de l'estran.

Atlantique est, de l'Afrique du Sud à la Scandinavie et à l'Islande, Açores, Canaries, Iles Féroé, Manche, Mer du Nord, Baltique, Méditerranée, Atlantique ouest du Canada à la Caroline du Nord, Argentine, Pacifique nord-est et nord-ouest, Australie, Nouvelle-Zélande, Chili, Philippines.
