Peacock blenny

Salaria pavo (Risso, 1810)

Blennie mesurant jusqu'à 13 cm de long, au corps comprimé latéralement, présentant un ocelle cerclé de bleu caractéristique derrière l'oeil. La coloration générale est beige à brun-verdâtre, parcourue de fines lignes verticales bleues se transformant en rangées de points bleus vers l'arrière du corps. Le mâle présente une crête remarquable.

Possible confusions

Avec la blennie basilic Salaria basilica qui ne présente pas d'ocelle cerclé de bleu derrière l'oeil.

Biotope / Habitat

Lagunes côtières et milieux portuaires, de l'estran jusqu'à 10 m de profondeur.

Distribution

Méditerranée occidentale et orientale, Mer Noire, Atlantique NE du Maroc à la Bretagne, Manche ouest.
