Taille maximale de 7 cm avec une coquille épaisse. Elle possède de longs tentacules blancs qui dépassent souvent largement de la coquille. Les valves sont symétriques de couleur blanche, de forme ovale et allongée. Le nombre de côtes radiales oscille entre 18 et 24
