Remarkable

Plante vivace de 50 cm à 3 m de hauteur, fixée par des rhyzoides ou flottante (sans racine) Feuilles : - verticilles de 3 à 12 feuilles, - jusque 2 cm de long, raides et cassantes, - formées de 2 à 4 lanières finement dentées, - de couleur vert foncée, Tige : - peut se diviser en plusieurs rameaux, - de couleur jaune à beige. Hors de l'eau, cette plante rigide conserve sa forme sans s'affaisser : son nom, Ceratophyllum de "ceras", corne et de "phyllum" feuille, fait allusion à sa rigidité.

Possible confusions

Myriophyllum sp. : - plante avec racines, souple au toucher, verticille souvent par 4. - hors de l'eau, il s'affaisse alors que le cornifle conserve sa structure rigide et conserve sa forme.

Biotope / Habitat

Eaux douces calmes ou à débit très lent, riches en nutriments, près de la surface.
