Plante aquatique de 60 cm à 3 m de haut. Tiges cylindriques bien ramifiées. Feuilles (15-20 cm) vertes, luisantes, allongées finissant en pointe et fixés à la tige par une courte liaison.

Possible confusions

Avec le potamot allongé - Potamogeton praelongus : feuilles vert vif sans liaison avec la tige et à l'extrémité allongée Avec le potamot noeud Potamogeton nodosus : feuilles munies d'un long pétiole

Biotope / Habitat

Vit immergée entre 20 cm et 3 m de profondeur dans des eaux stagnantes ou à faible courant (rivières, lacs)
